This year, Cadillac is giving their Escalade a facelift and some new features under the hood. The 2021 Escalade will be available for purchase later this year, but the details are out, and the vehicle looks promising. Here's what you need to know about the newest iteration of the luxury SUV.
About the Escalade
The Cadillac Escalade is a full-sized luxury SUV with three-row seating, an ideal choice for families that enjoy traveling together. First launched in 1998 as a competitor to the Lexus LX, the Mercedes-Benz ML-Class, and the Lincoln Navigator, this SUV has been a fan favorite for over ten years. The new Escalade will feature a completely redesigned body that works well with the new, fully independent suspension, which is taking the place of the live rear axle. Fans of the Escalade can look forward to seeing advertisements for the 2021 model featuring Spike Lee.
New Aesthetics
The exterior of the new Cadillac Escalade will feature horizontal headlights that seamlessly blend in with the front grille, similar to the XT6. This is a major change from the current model, which features vertically clustered headlights. The taillights will inherit the traditional Cadillac design that's been implemented on the rear of Cadillac vehicles for decades. Thin, vertical, and long, the taillights represent the elegance that fans expect from the Cadillac brand.
The most impressive changes to the appearance of this SUV, however, can be seen on the inside.
A Modern Interior
The cabin of the new Cadillac Escalade is equipped with a large 38-inch curved OLED display with more than twice the pixel density of a household 4K television. This is an industry-first feature and will afford passengers an incredible visual experience every time they ride shotgun. The Escalade will also be equipped with an updated version of Cadillac's Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving system.
Get the Specs
A major change coming to the 2021 Escalade is the independent rear suspension, which replaces the previous live axle. This allows for additional cabin space for passengers. While information about the engine has not yet been confirmed, it is believed that the engine will be a GM-sourced pushrod V8, in either 5.3, 6.2, or 6.6-liter.
Customize Your Trim
Not much information about the 2021 Cadillac Escalade is available yet, but it's safe to assume that it will follow the same pattern of available packages that have previously been available on the Escalade. Assuming this is true, it will be available in either two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, and each will be available in four different trim options: standard, Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Platinum. The standard trim includes a 10-speed automatic transmission, magnetic ride control, surround vision, split-folding third-row bench seat, wireless charging for your smart devices, 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot capability, Bose Centerpoint Surround Sound 16-speaker audio system, a hands-free power liftgate, and heated and cooled driver and front passenger seats.
Choosing the Luxury trim gives you more features, including a rear camera mirror, Driver Awareness Package, available rear-seat entertainment system, power sunroof, and theft-deterrent package.
The Premium Luxury package includes the rear-seat entertainment system as standard, IntelliBeam headlights, and available power-retractable assist steps.
For true luxury, the Platinum trim is the way to go. In addition to the above features, the power-retractable steps come standard.
