The Cadillac V-Series is has been turning critic heads since 2004, and with good reason. Motor Trend refers to the V-Series as world-class super sedans, thanks to their powerful engines and upscale ride. But what does it take to become a V-Series vehicle?
In order to get the V badge that cement's its place in the V-Series, a Cadillac requires a few things. The body must be aerodynamic, so that the wind blowing over the hood of your car doesn't slow you down. There's no point in having a performance sedan if it can't perform, after all.
The Cadillac must also have a revised suspension system, a smooth shifting transmission, and a new and improved interior. Finally, the engine has to be able to live up to the V-Series reputation. There's no weak engines allowed here.
The Cadillac CT4-V Is the Latest to Join the V Family
Even though COVID-19 has placed a damper on automobile production, the CT4-V still made it across the finish line. For those who thought they may have to wait until 2021, the wait is over.
The new CT4-V comes equipped with a high-output 2.7L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. This engine can push out 325hp and 380lb-ft of torque. It can also go from zero to 60 in a mere 4.7 seconds. Further, the brakes are also very impressive as well. It's possible to stop in just 154 feet after hitting speeds of 70 mph.
It's hard to find a sedan with a smoother ride than the CT4-V. It's well-balanced, the interior is comfortable, the tech is innovative, and the ride is shockingly quiet. With a price range of $45,490 to $52,165, the CT4-V is a luxury performance vehicle that's surprisingly affordable.
How Does the CT4-V Differ From the CT4?
It should come as no surprise that the CT4-V is more powerful than the CT4. The standard CT-4 gets 2.0L 4-cylinder engine which produces 237hp, which is impressive enough, but Cadillac took things to the next level with the CT4-V.
The CT4 also comes with an 8-speed automatic transmission, while the CT4-V has a more powerful 10-speed automatic. Also, the CT4-V has a more athletic look to the body. The angles are just a little sharper, making it easy to identify at a glance whether someone is in a CT4 or a CT4-V.
What Do the Critics Think?
According to Forbes, "The more athletic DNA of the V series is seen all over this car. Some of the exterior detailing is exquisite, especially the mesh grille, stylish quad exhaust tips, and irresistible rear spoiler that also reduces lift at the back of the car. The rear lines generally speak to a meaningful design ethic, quality build strength, and dynamic performance."
MotorBiscuit was highly impressed with the engine, and referred to it as 'dynamite.' It was also impressed with what a great daily driver the CT4-V is, especially with AWD.
Kelley Blue Book was also pleased with the Cadillac CT4-V. Some pros KBB likes is the strong engine, quick acceleration and good handling, sharp looks, and its reasonable price. The review site went on to state, "In the CT4-V, the "V" may as well be for "invigorating".
