Fans of the Cadillac CTS were disheartened to hear that the car was being discontinued. This luxury midsize sedan was a favorite among Sarasota car dealership customers for its peppy engines and stylish interior. Unfortunately, the car also suffers from a low fuel economy score and little storage space in the trunk.
However, the model that will replace the CTS promises to be even better. The Cadillac CT5 will be hitting Sarasota car dealership lots soon! What makes this vehicle stand out among its competitors? Let's look at its specs and find out.
The CT5's Impressive Interior
As expected of a Cadillac, the cabin features high-quality leather seating and multiple soft-touch points. There's plenty of room for drivers of all heights to stretch their legs, and the backseat is equally spacious. There's also more trunk space compared to the CTS.
The CT5 will be available in three different trims: Basic, Premium Luxury, and Sport. The pricier trims offer more interior comfort options like heated and ventilated seats, 18-way adjustability, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The Luxury trim also has open-pore real wood accents sprinkled about its interior.
How is the Cadillac CT5's Engine?
The base motor of the CT5 will be a four-cylinder turbocharged 2.0-liter engine capable of 237 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. It's paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard with the option to upgrade to all-wheel drive.
Currently, this is the only engine offered for all three trims. Later in the year, another engine will be available for the Sport and Luxury trims. This one is a turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine capable of 335 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. If that's not enough power, you can wait for CT5-V. This version should be available at Sarasota car dealerships in late 2020. Edmunds predicts that this car's engine will make up to 355 hp.
Top-Tier Safety Features - Standard At Our Sarasota Preowned Car Dealership
The CT5 comes equipped with many more standard safety features than its competitors. It has forward collision alert, front pedestrian braking, and automatic emergency braking. Standard driver-assistance technology offerings include a rearview camera with a zoom feature and a safety alert seat, which can help drivers avoid crashes.
Available safety features include adaptive cruise control, rear parking sensors and pedestrian detection, and a camera with surround vision equipped with a sound recorder. You can also purchase a model with Cadillac's unique Super Cruise feature, which promises safer hands-free driving.
How Does The CT5 Drive?
The CT5's performance on the road is what really sets it apart from its rivals. It comes standard with eBoost brakes, an electric power steering system, and ZF passive dampers. This makes it more receptive to the driver's input and makes them feel more in control of the car.
Its sporty construction makes it more fun to drive on winding roads compared to the Lexus GS 300. The BMW Series 5 used to be the go-to sedan for sports enthusiasts, but it doesn't have as much enhanced driving dynamics as the CT5. The CT5 will also be a better value for some customers, as it will be several thousand dollars cheaper than either the BMW or the Audi. A new Cadillac CT5's base price starts at around $37,000.
