New year, new Cadillac! This week we will be highlighting our 2019 Cadillac XT4 after all 2019 is looking to be a big year for SUVs. We love all our Cadillacs but let's take a closer look of this week's model as we compare it to its big brother the 2018 Cadillac XT5. We both know that either model would be a great choice, but let's learn why the XT4 may be a better option for you in 2019.

Let's start with the basics. The XT5 is bigger (189 inches) than the XT4 (181 inches) but the XT4 has more room for passengers by taking some space from cargo. The cargo space in the XT4 does extends to 48.9 cubic feet when you collapse the second row. Practicality remains even though it will be the smallest Cadillac SUV.

Cadillacs come with standard features. Both coming with a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 pounds, when you choose the available towing package (XT4) or the available trailering package (XT5). Now whose horse is bigger? With a 2.0 liter engine of the XT4 it outputs 237 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. When equipped with 3.6 liter engine and FWD the XT5 outputs 310 horsepower and 271 lb-ft of torque.

Tech features are plentiful giving a lot of peace of mind for tech lovers. Smartphone pairing, fast wireless charging pads, four USB ports, surround-vision camera, and updated rear camera mirror are just some of the bells and whistles available with the XT4. Safety and convenience are always in the forefront along with luxury and comfort when designing Cadillacs. With its forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking system the XT4 is always looking out for you and your passengers.

Once you've taken all of that in, have a seat inside. The interior is beautiful! The XT4 really changes the way drivers interact with the vehicle. There's a nice-sized touchscreen in the center, but it also brings the physical buttons for easy programming and a rotary knob near the shifter that previous Cadillacs didn't have. One thing that does carry over from other Cadillac models is the design. The XT4 has a chrome-trimmed black mesh grille up front, L-shaped LED running lights, while out back tail lights adorn a liftgate that is topped with subtle spoiler. The XT4 is sold in Luxury, Premium Luxury and Sports trim levels. With this assertive style and premium content, our XT4 shows the qualities that has helped make Cadillac SUVs a hit.

Now we all know what the next question will be...cost. Affordability is another important aspect of comparison. The base of the XT5 starts at $40,595 where as that of the XT4 is a base of $35,790. If you want the most cost-effective model with the most passenger volume and plenty of towing capacity, get ready for the XT4.

With its sleek style and upscale features should help the XT4 make waves in the pool of small luxury SUVs. Take that into consideration with its affordable pricing and fuel economy this Cadillac makes its case for being an incredibly sensible choice.
